What are your thoughts on vaccines?

Q: Hi Elle! This may be too risky for you to feel comfortable answering, but can I ask for your stance on vaccines? I’m not looking for the medical part of it as much as I am interested in whether you are favorable toward them or not. I went to Sedona recently and had such a good time with my family, but we all noticed a very strong anti-science mentality amongst many of the locals we met. When I say locals I mean primarily spiritual people since we went to a lot of crystal and holistic shops. The locals we met at restaurants and hotels seemed to be less radicalized and had balanced perspectives. What are your thoughts?

A: Hi there! A few years ago, I would have danced around the answer. When I first came to Sedona there was a situation where a girl (not a minor, but just barely over 18) was still living under the control of her parents who were rigidly anti-vax. As in, the new age kind of anti-vax where they felt a person could not ascend to the next level of evolution if they had western medicine or preventative solutions put into their body. This person asked me to take them to get their vaccinations (they had never had ONE), and I happily did so. She left her home soon thereafter and was able to have more freedom to make her own choices without hiding them. That situation is what made me really hold back online about being vaccine favorable. I was able to help a few people get what they needed that way! Sedona spiritual cliques can be very judgemental toward people who consume western medicine, but especially toward people who get vaccinated… There is this whole cult-y style of thinking that tells people that they have to “purify [their] sperm or womb” before creating children, especially if their parents vaccinated them in childhood. It gets pretty “out there.”

Back in my Tumblr days, I mentioned that IN THE FUTURE, humans will hopefully not need vaccines or medicine at all (though that’s kind of a lofty and naïve wish honestly) because evolution may favor us and help us move beyond those things. I used to beat around the bush when people asked me about my stance though because I didn’t want to “reveal” myself to the anti-science/anti-medicine types that would sometimes read my blog… Often, their children would come to me asking for advice or help. I didn’t want to take that fragile line of remediation away from them.

Now, I don’t think it is any secret that I’m vaccine favorable. Everyone should talk to their doctor (a licensed doctor… not some new age quack who does “womb de-armoring” without any medical degree) about the pros and cons of getting any vaccine. There are some vaccines I cannot personally get and have always reacted poorly to the flu vaccines. Still, there are some that have protected me from lethal or undesirable realities. We are human. Human bodies cannot always protect themselves with “high vibe” nutrition and meditation. Monkeypox is still monkeypox. Covid affected many people in the new age communities, though most of them hid it lol. There is no shame in being honest about where we are and protecting ourselves and others by accepting what modern medicine has to offer us. I talk frequently about the prevalence of narcissism in spiritual communities. Something funny about narcissists is that many of them will never admit that they can (or do) get sick, because to them, sickness is weakness… Narcissists, for the most part, hate appearing weak. To get a vaccine would be to admit that they could get sick, therefore, they cannot do so (in their own minds) because they are “above” that. Sadly, many are conflating physical health with spiritual aptitude, which is just flat-out inaccurate and ableist.

We are in an anti-science and Satanic Panic (you may have heard it called the Luciferian Agenda… cue the eye roll) era right now. Many of the “spiritual” types in Sedona stood on street corners protesting masks in public areas, though they voted against women’s+ rights to… you know what, later. Of course, that was not unique to Sedona, but this is a particularly anti-science community within the spiritual precincts of the city. Your experience was valid. I promise we do have a good crowd here which doesn’t fall into spiritual ego traps, and which does make decisions that best consider the safety of others. =)

I am not saying that big pharma or all scientists have our best interests at heart. We all know that is not the case, but that doesn’t mean we throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater and behave irresponsibly. Vaccines virtually eradicated many devastating diseases for decades, but we are seeing re-emergences of those diseases because of the anti-vax and anti-science movements. (Ex: Polio, smallpox, whooping cough, mumps, measles, and rinderpest. Not a complete list.) As so-called starseeds, lightworkers, humans who want to be of service, and beings who want to better ourselves, it is imperative that we think about more than our egos when we make decisions. Isn’t the most loving choice one that protects as many people as possible from devastating diseases…? Playing with our consciousness and personal evolution sometimes means that we are playing with people’s lives when we ignore medical advice. And for the vaccine injury camp out there, yes. Vaccine injury can and does occur, but it is far outweighed by the positive effects vaccines have on the future(s) of the collective. Even if there is a very tiny chance I could personally experience vaccine injury, I would still choose to get vaccinated (barring any high risks to my personal health given my veritable and traceable medical history).

My point is, not every vaccine is right for everyone… obviously. =) But in most cases (in Sedona), the choice to get vaccinated or not is an issue of ego, not of personal safety. If we want to call ourselves spiritual leaders and starseeds, we have to take off the tinfoil hats sometimes and make the best decision for everyone. Besides, (and this is going to make some people mad), if no major risks to your personal health are obvious to you or your licensed healthcare provider, according to the new age logic, won’t that high vibe diet be enough to mitigate any minor discomforts you experience? That is not medical advice or a mentality I respect at all in the first place, but food for thought to whom it applies.

Also, my thoughts on responsibility in terms of keeping ourselves and others safe is not targeted toward people who do not have the access or the means to get healthcare or vaccinations. Some people who wanted to get vaccinated during the pandemic could not due to travel costs, work constraints, and financial limitations. Even if the vaccine was free, the means to get it usually were not. I consider this more of a failure on the government’s part— not the people who could not get what they wanted or needed. I wish vaccines could have gone door to door somehow, but for a variety of reasons, that did not happen. Much love to the people who were not able to access healthcare and received hate or judgment for being “unvaccinated.” You did nothing wrong.

Stay informed. Seek wise counsel from people with actual medical degrees… Combat the spiritual narcissism disease going around and be humble enough to embrace all aspects of your humanity. <3

Additional thoughts: I am writing this a few days after initially posting my answer to this question. I went deep into the collective during meditation and discovered a massive trauma wound… Some of it seems to be from “past life” (parallel incarnation) and hybrid program trauma where humans were experimented on without explicit, informed, and timely consent, often by non-human entities. Of course, this has happened on earth too, so the healing we need to facilitate for this will be powerful… as well as great in breadth and potency. I am adding this on for anyone who would like to direct healing energy to this collective wound. The intense PTSD I am feeling is very visceral… It is not the only thing contributing to the anti-science movements, but it is a powerful factor. It’s easy to understand the fear and hesitancy when looking through this lens, but I know that we can process and soothe the trauma with a little time and effort. We have to be discerning, but it is okay to trust human solutions and medicine sometimes. Not everyone is “out to get us” or planning an evil agenda behind our backs, though, in the collective, I am feeling that hair-raising fear very strongly. I am grateful for receiving this insight and know that it will help others know where to direct their focus as well. <3
